While I do believe you should minimize the number of low EV hands you get invovled with, the pot odds in this situation are at least 6.5:1, so there is a schooling effect in play that would make a call justified with any two cards.
Knowing that such a call is technically accurate, it's really your decision if you want to get invovled. This is all table feel. As you can see this is a case where it paid off. You flopped two pair and got it all in against top pair. He had 5 natural outs - ~21%, plus like 4% for the chance of the board hitting a pair.
So you are 3 to 1 to win this hand when you got all your money in. The fact that he drew out afterwards is irrelevant...
Though I always notice low two pair has a remarkable way of failing to hold up!!!
