when you experience physical trauma you get an adrenaline rush and a weird feeling of detachment from reality. it's hard to think straight. can't blame OP for not reacting properly. if you want you can go to the doctor and have them fix you up and have this dude pay for it, but it's a matter of what you want to deal with. I think you're probably better off making sure you're all right and forgetting about it.
