I'm familair with a lot of Japanese and Asian economic history. As stated, the fact that a country engages in certain practices and is successful is not a defense of those policies. Many countries have large agricultural subsidies and go on just fine, but these are horrible policies.
It's like going all in with AJ preflop against KK and you hit an A and think your right.
