Normally you'd be right, but this is an extreme case. The Broncos have defended against 307 runs, fewest in the NFL. The Jets have defended against 474 runs, most in the NFL. Moreover, the Jets face an unusually large number of runs up the middle, since they have two good DEs (Abraham and Ellis) and are usually facing an offense that's trying to grind the clock. For the same reason, a larger percentage of the passes they face are likely to be short ones that are often stopped by the LB corps, while Denver must have faced a higher percentage of downfield passes as they are usually playing from ahead.

In this circumstance, I think a 78 tackle difference can certainly be explained by situation and system.
