I don't think it's productive to agonize over or debate a prof's grading prolicy. It's like when playing a certain game that I won't mention: To be a good player, you have to adapt your playing style based on the texture of your tablee. You have to take the professor's grading style, and adapt to it.For instance, You might do the math and determine that throwing an exam can give you a higher expected grade for the course because it qualifies you for extra credit.
