because a good lag will make you fold the best hand when you both miss, wont lose much when you both hit, and will make more when he has a best hand and you have a 2nd best hand.
At first I get frustrated when people call me with KJo and the like, and sometimes I get in trouble like open trips, but those flops are a small %. Alot of the profit accounts for not showing down.
