Default Re: Is checking behind on the river here -EV?

A bigger bet on the turn feels right. The small bet here will invite the more aggro guys to take a stand perhaps, and if you're ahead it's by a ways so you lose some value. If you bet a decent amount on the turn and he comes to life it makes your hand easier to play I think.

I don't feel as though you're only called if beaten on the river. If a weak ace has been digging this hole the entire time, I doubt he'd ditch it now even if unimproved.

Any info on this guy? Does he like checkraising or check calling/trapping with big hands? Is he the type to interpret any raise as AK as many PP25 players do? Would he pay off with Ax unpaired garbage here and give no thought of your holding?

This really feels like some weak ace, but against a total unknown I check the river a decent amount of the time here, pots big enough for TPTK for me anyways, and I'd sure as hell hate a checkraise on the end. If you know he is a calling station clown who will go pretty deep with any pair, milking more on the river is a must. Barring this info though I think checking behind will save you a decent amount over time.

JMO.

Cheers.
