That's not necessarily the case. In a stud game with at least a moderate ante, tight games are often more profitable than loose games. And in no-limit holdem, aggressive games are often more profitable than passive games.

If you're strictly talking limit holdem, tight-passive games are usually better than loose-aggressive, because your variance is a lot lower, and since you generally know where you stand you have a lot more control. Loose-aggressive you win larger pots, but you're bluffed out a lot more, and it costs you a lot more to play in most situations.

Online this is important to consider, since a larger pot size doesn't always mean a more profitable game.
