There is nothing to get.

Maybe being a close family member of a victim involved in a death penalty case would affect how that judge thinks about the death penalty.

Did the execution bring closure to him/her?

Does he/she now have a victim's family perspective?

Or would it not really affect his/her judicial decisions at all?

I don't know the answer, but judge X is one of the likely nominees of Bush to the Supreme Court, and I wonder if this aspect of judge X's personal history matters to anyone.
