Default Re: Need help buying chips - how many?

I concur. Longer levels will help in that you don't have to always worry about having those low value chips in play

Heck, you could go with 1st round at 10/10 and forget the nickel chip all together. Then second round would be 10/20.

Besides that, you can spend your time playing poker instead of always wondering about the clock.

For a tourney set, I still like the idea of limiting the low denomination chip. I've found that the 2nd & 3rd level chips get most of the action and you'll need the greatest amount of these chips in your set.

I use a laptop (old POS) for the poker clock. Free software at H.P.T..com.

We use to not have a SB in the first round (we have a bunch of gamblers so folding around is never a problem). We are going to try this tonight(from HPT.com)

20 - $5
36 - $25
5 - $100

makes for T1500 if my math is right. I have enough chips right now for this (even though I'm dying to upgrade).

I like the idea of having 4 different colors. I think that would be nice.

Thanks again to everyone for all the help....still working this out in my head and will use all the info that you guys throw at me.
