If anyone can explain to me how Family Circus and Marmaduke have managed to continue being published all these years, it would be much appreciated.

If you're not funny to begin with you don't have to worry about having to keep coming up with funny material.

Grante, those comics are as putrid today as they were 50 years ago...but whose been reading them all these years? Who is their target audience? Is there a single poster on here who admits to finding either of those comic strips funny?

Its like old people who wear their shorts up around their armpits and wear socks with their sandals. NOBODY says they want to dress like that when they get old, but it ends up happening. Same is true for family circus, you swear you wont ever find it funny (cuz it isnt) and then one day you are 50 and cutting it out and hanging it on your fridge because jeffy reminds you of how cute your grandkids are.
