Default Re: Albuquerque

I live in SE New Mexico, about 200 miles from Albuquerque. I get up there about once a month, and really like Sandia. Generally well run and seldom long waits for a seat. The majority of dealers are decent. My last trip there was in January, and the rake was still only $3 - there were no jackpots, though they were planning to implement one soon. The games are generally soft, but the $10/$20 game can be tough, especially if its the highest limit going and the table is full of regulars.

There is a card room at the Inn of the Mountain Gods near Ruidoso in Southern NM. They are opening a new casino and resort on the 15th, and advance word is that the facility will be awesome. Heretofore, the casino and card room have been in shabby quarters, and, IMHO, poorly run. The card room in particular suffered from poor management, so much so that I just quit going there - wasn't worth the hassles and waits. (For example, I often sat at tables with two or more empty seats for over 45 minutes with long waiting lists; and once sat for over an hour with two empty tables, 25 people on the $5/$10 waiting list, while the floor manager and two dealers went out for drinks...) The new facility is being marketed to an upscale audience, so maybe they will upgrade service....

Ill be in 'Burque the 24th, for the BB Tourney (Bear Down, Arizona!!!) and will be spending some quality time @ Sandia
