Default Re: $1/2: I miss the flop, maniac goes passive on me, what\'s my line?

I think it depends on the aggression of this guy...for an idiot like this the ag-factor isn't going to get you too far (unless it's a ridiculous number like 0.4 or 5.1) but you need to have SEEN if I bets strongly with bottom-pair, or does he routinely call the flop when he makes top pair.

If he has ALWAYS raised with top or 2nd pair then you can start making assumptions that only calling on the flop means that he probably whiffed.

Does he raise his flush-draws?? We don't know.

It's easy to say all this stuff after you see that he checked the river though....but when he checks the turn I there's a good chance that you might have read from previous hands that betting out with your ace-high could have some value.

But, then again, if he's prone to crazy river raise bluffs...AND if you think you could induce a bluff attempt from him by just checking and letting him try to take it with his 82o UI then there could be some value to checking.

I'm just thinking out loud here and will be interested in other opinions...but he almost always calls down even when he has nothing...and more often than not on a paired-board your ace-high will actually be good over his any-two that he has taken no initiative with.
