Norton can be particularly touchy. I had the problem myself a few months ago. Check to make sure that the firewall didn't get reset to block those programs. Try hitting live update again. Last option, might be a reinstall of Norton. Before you do that you could also go to the symentec web site and search their knowledge base and see if they have any answers.
