Default Re: Interested in staying in Vegas for 1-2 weeks..

Before I got a place, I used to stay at Budget Suites behind the Stardust. It is a 5 minute walk/ 1 minute drive to Wynn and the rest of the strip from there.

The Wynn O/8 game has pretty much turned into a 10/20 w/ 1/2 kill. It is decent sometimes, rocky othertimes. The Mirage should still have their 5/10 w/ full kill going.

The 10/20 mix at Wynn I believe is still the only low stake stud games you can find, next being the 20/40's at Bellagio. It runs maybe 4-5/7 days a week. Although there are periods when it runs more. For a few months, it ran everyday. You just need to learn the schedule, like I said before. Everything is time of day, day of week, and time of season in this town in terms of action.

Bellagio has 8/16 and 15/30 which are both good games. If you have enough for 30/60, that is a great game as well. The mix game there is 40/80 and I will assume you won't be playing it.

They also run a 4/8 O/8 game.

The Mirage NL games are capped buy-ins 100xBB, and very good. I built a lot of money before Wynn opened in the Mirage 2-5. Watch the rake box though and make sure the dealers aren't taking too much. Seems like they have gotten sloppy/ just don't care anymore. Mirage is the casino that spreads 10-20 limit and it used to be a great game. I have heard it is very rocky now and the 20-40 or 40-80 is the way to go.

Wynn is fantastic and you can read about it in my other post. Too bad I am leaving this fair city for a few months to go skiing Good luck.

BTW, I have had a roommate each time at the Budget Suites and still can't remember the exact pricing. May be more expensive alone and there also may be better short term options. There are a few strip and off-strip locations that may be around $50 a night. The good thing about that Budget Suites is you can get anything you want. Just go in the courtyard and yell for some weed or some hookers and people will come out of their rooms with offers.

I liked Budget best for its easy access to the back roads and it is right next to Wynn. Don't let the cabbies rip you off if that is your transportation. During really peak traffic hours, getting to places like Caeser's or Bellagio is much quicker taking the back access routes. Take Industrial to get to a lot of places when it is busy.

P.S. Not sure if Caeser's has lived up to their promise of small stud games or not.

Awesome, thanks a lot! When I am in Vegas (about once a month for 3-4 days), I am playing at the Wynn and Mirage exclusively. I haven't been there on a poker trip since the mixed game was introduced, but I hope I'll catch some of it when I'm there next.

The game I used to play the most is the 10/20 half-kill O8 game at the Wynn, before they made it 6/12 full-kill later, which was annoying. I played a few rounds at the Orleans (real nice place there...) when they had a 10/20 game going, and it was rocky as all hell. The Wynn players are similar to the 5/10 Mirage players, pretty tight, but certainly beatable - they play terribly postflop.

Do you know what the mixed game at the Wynn spreads these days on the weekdays/weekends?

Again, I appreciate the help Larry David - you are by far the most informative poster in B&M.
