I always thought of it this way too, even in highschool. Anything less than penetration is making out/ BJ/Oral or what ev. Hooking up = sex, i think anal would count also. My new roomate tells me about hooking up all the time, I thought he was being a pimp, until I found out hooking up in his vocabulary did not mean sex.

So i guess both meanings are acceptable, but the lesser meaning makes me think u must be pathetic.
