Default Re: Cover Contest: Getting Started in Hold \'em -- Second Try

No, but for a lot of people, the cover sells the book. If someone walked into a store and saw the cover for "Hold'em Poker for Advanced Players", they'd probably laugh and pick up Ken Warren's book. That's the reality. People are ignorant. Especially the newer books like SSH and HOH, people look at them and think a couple of 15 year olds put them together.

While this is terrible news for 2+2, and we all want Ed and the rest of the 2+2 authors to have successful books, isn’t that better news for the people that know what those cards, 2d+2c=4h mean? Those that already know that no matter how flashy the other covers are, the quality of thought and theory is in the books, however ‘ugly’ the covers are, with the cards on the bottom of the spine.

BTW: The simple cover showing a showdown with the revolver signals to me that there is no effort to become flashy and polished. The lack of flash lends credibility to the book. It says that the authors believe that their information and discussion about the game is extremely sound. In general, it is reassuring to me as a player who is not interested in flash, but rather knowing how the game works.
