If you have a problem with the dealer, talk to the dealer about it; don't just sit there and criticize him to your friend - that's weak.
Don't argue with the dealer, just tell him what you thought was wrong. If he continues on with it, then go to the floor and talk about what happened and complain that the dealer won't let it drop.
Also, it's not the dealer's responsibility to let you know how many people are in the pot. If you want to know, just ask. Expecting him to always tell/remind you how many players are in the pot is unreasonable.
