I find these hands difficult to play, sometimes I check and see what happens, raising a bet from late position. Sometimes I play it the way you did, but I think I call this one down. Villain is 44/14/1.8 and could be raising his draw here.

I was thinking about this specific hand, and that 9 isn't a great card for you although it's offsuit, I'd prefer a safer turn card before I go ahead and call down. I'd feel much more comfortable with at least a board-pairing card.
You had a J9s hand getting 6:1 on the turn with a loose fish behind me with a gutshot and an overcard, I usually call that.
