This thread clarifies the difference between casual palyers and "serious" players. In the very smallest games the players liek the dealers to be entertaining. As you move up in limits the players find the dealer's banter and attempts at soliciting tokes to be intrusive.

Bubbles is a really great guy; he is also on my list of not so good dealers. For the $2-$6 that is normal at Excaliber he deals just fine. Around 2000 there was a 10-20 game there and when he game into the box he irritated the players by doign his same act. Another player finaly told him "just shut the f*** up and deal." As you move up in limits dealing accurate, mistake free poker becomes far more important than "being friendly." The other problem with being overly friendly is that when the dealer is chatting or whatever with one player it can give the appearance to someone thinking about sitting down that the dealer is friends with one of the players and can scare off a potential player.
