when playing small stakes NL i have a rule i adhere almost exclusively. when i am raised, especially check raised, one pair is no good. AA is only a pair...repeat with me...AA is only a pair. A couple of caveats. The rule applys assuming A.) you havent been playing over agressive (the table doesnt perceive you as a maniac) 25 NL players arent very observant, but even they take notice when you are betting and raising everyother hand. B.) villain raising me is not a maniac. A few ubermaniacs frequent the SSNL (when dealing with this animal if you never folded a pair ANY pair, it would not be far from incorrect), but the majority of players are weak tight. When a weak tight player raises you they are announcing "i have a hand." Fold, and let the same player call you all the way down with bottom pair and you will get your money back.
