It seems like you have given this some serious thought, so I say go for it as long as you have a "safety net"
You don't like your job and you don't want to go back to school. Why do something you don't like to do? If after 3 months you discover it's not for you, go back to work and re-evaluate.
I myself wold rather have tried to do something I wanted to do and failed, rather than wonder wonder "what if?" When I am 60 years od and it was to late.
