at .50/1, yea I guess the limpers could have a lot of weak hands and we have a pretty big edge. At 2/4 or 3/6, it's really not that bad to check here to keep the pot small, this way, gutshots and the like will make a mistake by calling. This concept is in HEPFAP, I think it assumes the limpers will have better than average hands, so our edge with AJo is not as big.

I often don't raise this from the SB or BB in very multiway pots too. My reasoning goes more along the line that, although we have equity edge here with a good holding, we're going to have to play it out of position for the rest of the hand. I'm not a huge lover of playing decent, but not great, offsuit cards out of position and against many players in a raised pot, and so try to keep the pot smallish. I think it trades a little of the edge in equity for a little temporary safety.
