You are right to experience these swings. My SD for full ring is 12, and 6max is 18. 300 BB is a little iffy, especially if you aren't building. Losing 150BB in 2k hands at that game is not uncommon and that's half of what you have. If you don't want to have to ever more down to keep your ROR minimal, you should have at least 500BB, but ideally 700-1000 to feel comfortable.
I've been consistently winning for over 100k hands, and I've recently experiences a 350BB downswing, and this is miniscule compared to what some of the pros experience.
