The strange thing here is his checkraise... since you're the only one left to act in the pot, seems like a strange place to attempt a checkraise. I think you're against a steal here more often than a real hand. (Oh, the CO bet the pot after we all checked to him, he's probably trying to steal it, i'll just raise and steal it BACK!)
Of course, if he's stealing the pot, we don't want to give him a chance to catch up on the turn with a higher pair. As such, a reraise is the best bet, and any reraise smaller than pushing leaves us with awkward situation later. Your hand is such that it is never in bad shape here (even against a set, we're doing alright) so pushing is +EV.
