I've been thinking about this one all night. Would you really rather have this, or players who are thinking one level above you?

If a player is thinking one level below you, then perhaps some moves are possible because the player isn't sophisticated enough to think them through. On the other hand, the same move might work on a player who you think plays at a higher level.

I guess it depends on the situation. IN general I guess you might want the less sophisticated player, but there are times when it may be better to face the more sophisticated player.
