First of all, Doyle had over 1 mil in chips, so he wasn't all in.

He probably figured that the short stacked guy was pushing all-in with a top pair (or at best a flopped set if he was really lucky).

Doyle had a great hand and was a favorite to win in most cases.

I'm no pro, but I love to put my money in when I'm a favorite to win. In the long run it pays off.
