Also, I'm not sure how correct the following is, but I've been thinking about it: There's no way the Villain is going to fold if I 3-bet the flop. If I 3-bet the BB and Villain are just going to call for one extra bet. Then the pot is much larger on the turn and they will have odds to call with a lot of hands. However, if I let the BB bet the turn (as i mistakenly predicted), the Villain has far worse odds on a turn call. I'm not sure how correct this idea is, hopefully someone else can evaluate my plan.

This is hand protection. Your intentionally keeping the pot small so you can give them the wrong odds to continue on the next street(turn in this case0.

The trouble is here, If anyone has a T they have 8outs(Ok 6 clean becasue a flush may beat them but say 8).

8 needs 5:1 so its tough to protect(Specially since implied odds come in also).

Also, With a flush they have 9outs - Once again need 4.1:1 or so so its hard to protect from.

because of this, I go with the value route and dont allow any free cards.

I think we often have the best hand here(Get money in whilst they can draw!),
Giving a flush draw a free card is very bad(So make them pay to draw).
Giving a straight draw a free card is also very bad(Make them pay to draw).

If we get capped we can reanalyse.
