If texas would have lost to colorado, wouldn't colorado win the big 12 making 9 autobirths?
1/2 for USC and Texas
Top 4 for OSU
top 6 for ND
Conference wins for: PSU, WVU, UGA, FSU
and Colorado would make 9. How would this have been handled?

If texas lost to a horrible Colorado team, they wouldn't be in the top 4 anymore, so no BCS berth for them.

If all the games played out like they did, it would be

1. USC
2. Penn St
3. Ohio State
4. Oregon
5. Notre Damn
6. Texas
etc.

editing before I send, if this was the final standings. Who's in?

Big Ten - Penn State
Pac-10 - USC
Big east - WVU
Big 12 - Colorado
SEC - Georgia
acc - Florida St.

that leaves Ohio state, oregon, and ND on the outs. But, if a team is top 4, it's an auto bid, so Ohio State and Oregon get it, but if Notre Dame is top 6, auto bid.

That's 9 bids for 8 slots. That would have been disasterous.

3 and 4 only get an Automatic Bid if there are spots left over after #1-#2 get in, and the best top 6 non-BCS Conference team is in. Also, if Oregon was #4, OSU was #3, and ND was #12, Oregon does not have an autobid, as OSU gets the spot.
