I believe that the math that you use is actually used subconsciously... For example you have a hand that you may play 10/J suited. But someone in front of you puts in a big raise and you decide not to play. You are using math skills to figure out that generally that is a losing bet, that you will be throwing your hand away after the flop and you will not be making money.
