Re: Well I flopped a boat HU how am I going to play it?
First JRZ and then Gregatron explained my thinking exactly.
There are several things to take into account here.
1. BB is a TAG
2. He likely knows I am a TAG as well and likely to play fast.
3. He showed strength pre-flop
All of this makes the prospect of me getting 3 bet on the flop fairly high.
flop T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
BB bets, I raise, hoping to get 3 bet whereby I call and pop the turn.
BB calls,
Turn and river and both bricks and BB calls me down with 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
Although I may have missed out on a SB here I think I played this one correctly. If I had waited for the turn to raise against a TAG it allows him to release his hand if he has something like Ace high while popping the flop on a paired board likely gets him to call down the same hand. Also as said before I have a decent chance of getting 3 bet and led into on the turn.
Against a loose/passive or loose/aggressive I would wait for the turn here as they are less likely to fold even to a turn raise and a LAG may 3 bet the bigger street.
For what it is worth a also think the BB played his hand correctly as you have to go to showdown against a player like me with a middle pair heads-up.
