poor people like to gamble, as an asian myself coming from a poverty ridden country (philippines) its natural to think that money buys happiness and the fastest way of attaining money with the least amount of work is by winning the lottery.

nearly all the members of my family play the lottery, while i do not (pot odds people!), they all say that my 'gambling' habit is bad.

its a cultural thing.
