He was. To compute the odds, you must convert the odds to probabilities (fractions), multiply the probabilities, and then convert back to odds, as I did. You cannot multiply the odds directly.

No, the odds are 51-1. There are 51 non-As to 1 As. Odds against are always defined as losers:winners. The probability is 1 in 52 or 1/52.
