Re: Poker Tournaments in FL Shut Down?
If I understand correctly, there are two sets of legislation on the books in Florida regarding poker, the state law allowing the very limited form of poker we have, and administrative rules governing pari-mutuels in the state. It appears this was a change in the administrative rules which shut down the tournaments.
The Seminoles are governed by the state law as applied by the federal government, not the administrative rules. As a result, the Hard Rock in Tampa has about 20 tables running tournaments now, because of the massive influx of tournament players from the tracks.
I'm pretty sure when the Downs opens, they'll be cash games only, because of the rule. Which is sad.
