I agree, unless your opponent is coming over the top of you on both the flop and the turn and putting you all-in. Or so it seems to me.

I agree. However fatigue and time could've made your hand look like the nuts. I think ESPN didn't do a good enough job in exploring this but that's being covered in another string I believe.
