If you are going to defend against an sb steal (this goes for almost every situation) you should 3 bet. 3 betting from the sb accomplishes (at least) two things:
1) Represents strength which will often allow you to win without sd.
2) Forces the bb to call 2 more bets which takes away his odds to call with marginal hands.
