Default Shorthanded - many winners beside the house?

I usually play 10 handed limit hold'em and also some tournaments. I decided to try my luck on some 6-handed tables and i dont do very well.

Now one explanation is that i suck at shorthanded. That is true. No doubt about it. But then again, i play against people who play really really bad.

Maybe its just very hard to beat the rake? I play with stakes $10/$20, so most every hand reaches 60$ for a 3$ rake. If we say for the sake of argument that we play 100 hands in one hour and I win 15 hands I pay 45$ in rake!

45$/h! That seems like a hurdle that must be quite difficult to overcome even for a player far better than me.

I guess my question is: can it even be done? And if yes what is the percentage of winnging players?
