Default Re: at bellagio NL game, why no limit to buy in?

[ QUOTE ]
i don't understand why they do not limit the buy in at the 10-20 blind NL game. you can buy in for 2K, 10K, 20K, 100K or whatever you want....doesn't this give big edge to the large buy ins? or is it better not to be too deep stacked?

[/ QUOTE ]

It gives the big stack an "edge" only in so far as he is able to maximize his good hands. But it gives him no inherent edge in any other way.

I guess the question is: why do you think it does give him an edge? Do you have a reason or is this simply the fact that you see references to TV tourney commentators refering to the edge of big stacks? Let's take an example, a live NL cash game, the blinds are 1/2 with no max buy-in. Everyone is sitting with $100 except for one player who has $200. What is the difference between him having $200 in this situation and him having $10,000? Answer: Nothing. He can still only win the most that his opponents have in front of them. Danial Negreneau wrote a good bit about this a couple of weeks ago in his blog. You should check it out if you still don't understand this concept.
