I think you did fine.
You can't fault yourself for acting in the moment. I don't blame you one bit for handling it exactly like you did and I don't think I could have done better in the heat of the moment.
If you (we) weren't so passionate about playing, I would have loved to see you laugh out loud at him and say 'nice job rookie.'
I have seen more and more beefs lately and it's usually internet jerks who are used to typing in comments and don't know any better.
