LAG is only more profitable than TAG in a certain situation.

basically if you play well postflop and you feel your opponents will fold a decent amount of the time then LAG works.

but it puts you in lots of marginal situations with mediocre hands and forces you to pick very small edges hence why you need folding equity to make the style work. Lagging it up against calling stations does not work.

a detailed guideline is too deep to get in to and requires a lot of metagame issues which would vary from opponent to opponent thus its hard to come up with a guide.
