He could have a worse nine or 77, but that's kind of wishful thinking. You seem to be thinking he may have hands that you WANT him to have, not that you think are actually likely. This is a bad habit and one to try to break.
I don't like the raise preflop with such bad position especially against a TAG. The three-bet means trouble from him and I don't see you ahead many times. Being 5 handed he does have a wider range of hands but I really don't like the OOP raise PF.
It was a decent flop for you though, none the less, and I think you may be ahead enough of the time to c/c down but once the ace comes, the board pairs and he 3-bets you it doesn't look likely.
