well the checkraise allows us generate folding equity by making the opener fold better hands when facing the checkraise. i think its better than calling the flop with the intention of making it to the showdown. by checkraising the flop youre paying 2 bets to find out where youre at whereas checkcalling down costs 2.5. if you checkraise the flop and the EP player calls 2 you check the turn.
