Also, I'm assuming a 30BB buy in or $180-$200 is standard in this kinda game? Should I take the chips out of the rack or leave them in there? I was watching limit on Live at the Bike and it seemed like most players just left the chips in the rack.

IMHO, 3/6 should be played with WHITES only. So much more action when its one color. There is nothing worse then watching the dealer figure out the pot while making change. GO 2 racks of white or go 1 & 1/2 white with some red backups for the full kill or half kill game if that what will happen.
ALSO, TAKE YOUR CHIPS OUT OF YOUR STACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THere is nothing worse then making a bet and watching someone take each individual chip out of the rack. you also avoid string betting being called on your EVERY time. Unless you have killed the table for over 100BB just make a nice pyriamid up to your chest and let your hands hang around them like your hugging a woman
