Default Reminds me of

a hand I watched a friend play some years back - NLHE with 5-10 blinds.

*

Note: However much I may know now or THINK I know now I was as green as Kermit back then.

*

Everyone at the table had over 500; most had well over 1,000.

Four players limped and my friend limped on the button with 5-4s.

The BB then made it 40 and the four limpers plus my friend called.

The flop came 9 - 3 - 2 rainbow.

The BB made a bet of ~ the pot and all folded to my friend who called.

The Ace came on the turn and my friend won a huge pot - beating AA.

- I probably wouldn't be telling the story otherwise. :-)

Later over dinner I told him I was suprised at his call preflop but was shocked at his call on the flop.

"Didn't you have a pretty good idea that he had AA", I asked him, "and if he did you only had 6 outs".

He replied, "if I didn't think he had AA I wouldn't have called".

I stared at him with what I'm sure was a very confused look on my face until the lightbulb finally flickered.

Sometimes having some of your outs tainted is exactly what you're looking for.

More importantly . . .

I really love that story !
