Without answering your question, let me say this. With murder the grievers have someone to blame - or at least some direction to “vent”. With suicide, it is hard to not at least accept some of the cause (either through commission - something one might have said or omission - something one did not say.) And if one can get over that hurdle, one is still left with the feeling of helplessness (which I would think also accompanies the loss of a murder victim .)
To hmkpoker. I would guess your example would apply to one who was terminally ill for example. But, in most cases, I don’t think one is really themselves anyway. (Should we link the Athena thread here? - lol)
p.s. Not sure if the topic is interesting or not. It is a bit morbid (obviously it is literally speaking, but figuratively speaking, too) though.
