Default Re: Stud with a kill

[ QUOTE ]
I have recently played in a HE/stud rotation with a 1/2 kill. There is a kill pot when the pot goes above 15SB. In Hold'em, the winner of the kill pot posts an additional blind, but in Stud nothing is posted and the antes and bring in remain the same.

Is this typically the way a kill works in stud? I found it odd. Without the posted bet, the stud was just playing at increased stakes with far smaller antes (relative to the bet size). I always understood that a kill was supposed to increase the action, but this set up would tend to decrease it...

Garden City in San Jose has a game that works this way, if the pot is scooped then the next hand is 6/12 (or 8/16, I forget which) instead of 4/8. The ante remains $1, and I believe the bring-in is normal, too.

I agree with you that this does not seem to promote action since there is no mandatory bet or raise (other than the bringin) and the antes are smaller.
