Default Re: Small pot - is it worth it?

[ QUOTE ]
I considered betting the flop but didn't want to get raised by a pocket pair or ace high.

Yeah, I hate it when I make a great hand like Jack high and get raised and villain shows me A high. Nothing worse than value betting 2nd nuts when behind.

Seriously, I will just give up on this flop. Problem is: the only way to grab this pot is bet out on the flop and hope they both fold. But you can't really bet out because it kind of really smells like you don't have the King since you'd be way ahead on a draw-less flop and want to trap them for bigger bets later.

One of your limpers is likely to have a small/med PP and the CO just may have a King, in which case he is in position to really mess with you.

You are OOP in a tiny pot with no pair and only backdoor draws. Muck-it.

Even if it checks around and a Q or a d falls on the turn, pot is so tiny you don't have odds to chase your draw.

Once you've called the flop and paired your J, well then you may as well bet/fold the turn and c/c the river.
