I think on the flop he can have 1 of 3 hands.

(Another AQ is also probably possible like bakku mentioned, but I'm not sure he wouldn't 3-bet me pre-flop with it.)
Of these I think 44 is most likely, which is the hand I put him on initially when he bet out on the flop.
Once he bets the turn I pretty much eliminated a flush draw, and the Ace coming made 44 even more likely.
I didn't want to raise the turn because I can't call a 3-bet and I don't want to give up my chance to catch on the river.
When he bets the river I figured there was virtually no way I could win, but called anyway.
