if you watched cool hand luke for chase scenes then you should have rented something w/ vin diesel.
CHL isnt about the action. it's about character development. luke makes so many bad decisions that eventually ruin his life and in the back of our minds we keep thinking...all this because he took the top off of a parking meter one night when he was drunk.

And there's so much more to it than this. It's about a lot of things, and different people can take different things from it.
As for the Newman list, I can concede to the Sting, maybe. I love the Hustler immensely but I wouldn't put it over CHL. I've never seen Hud so I can't judge.
