Default Re: Taking nyquil every night

If you are using NyQuil only for the drowsy effects you should buy Unisom instead. The active ingredient in NyQuil that makes you sleepy is the antihistamine Doxylamine succinate. NyQuil also has Tylenol and Sudafed in it that you really shouldn't take unless you need it. Unisom just has the antihistamine Doxylamine succinate in it. By the way, if you do have allergies you are killing two birds with one stone because Doxylamine succinate helps both insomnia and allergies.

I'm not a pharmacist but I am a year 2 pre-pharm, but your making your liver work hard to detox the Tylenol and your heart work harder to deal with the vasoconstriction of the Sudafed.
